I have been diagnosed with a DVT approximatly sixty days ago in the left calf. Also, recently I have through testing learned of a mutated FVL gene - heterozygous. After initial diagnosis and warfarin RX my leg began to feel normal. However, in the last few weeks I have been feeling more discomfort (zings) where the DVT is located. Any idea why this occurs?

Brian

Brian that will happen. Dvt's leave a scar behind if that makes sense. Since you had yours in your calf your ankle will get swollen and even possibly your knee. Make sure you elevate your legs when you go to sleep and put a heating pad on the spots that hurt. Hope this helps.

Also dont stop taking care of your leg!!! Make sure you dont sit for long periods of time and you need to walk around. And before I forget dont eat too many greens. Some greens have a lot of iron in them and causes your blood to thicken. Go on the internet and research the foods not to eat on Factor V Leiden.
