My doctors office called and told me I am positive for Factor V. They said I was 3 out of 8 times more likely to have one then someone else. What does that mean?

Gloria- With Factor V you are more likely to develop a blood clot than someone negative for factor V. Most common site for the clot is in the leg (calf), causing pain, redness, swelling, warm to touch. The danger is the clot breaking lose and traveling to the lung. You may want to get more information on the disorder, particularly if you are of child bearing age. Could present problems during pregnancy.

I'm not 55 yrs old and I was just told that I have The Factor V Leiden gene disorder. Yet when I was 27 I had cancer and had to have a histroictome and had 5 pints of blood and had no problems at all. well other then being very sick. Then a year ago in Oct I was put on Celabrix for Arthritis and the Dr. said thats what brought out this blood disorder out and now I can't take the celabrix. What a pain!!!!! Has any one else had this problem???

I have been diagnosed with a DVT approximatly sixty days ago in the left calf. After initial diagnosis and warfarin RX my leg began to feel normal. However, in the last few weeks I have been feeling more discomfort (zings) where the DVT is located. Any idea why this occurs?

Brian
