Well I have factor 5 and factor 2, I think I am a rare odd -ball. After I gave birth to my son I developed a Pulmonary Embolism (clot in the lung) this led to the discovery of my disorders. Now that we are trying again the doc's want me on heparin throughout the entire pregnancy, and then again right after the birth.

I also have Hetrozygous Factor V leiden and I knew before my preganacy so I was put on Heperin shots right away. I had quiet a few complications with my pregnancy due to factor V, like preterm labour, but I knew that was a possibility and at the slightest contraction I went to the hospiatal and was hospitalized until I was stable enough to go home for 4 months of complete bed rest. My daughter was born at 37 weeks and 3 days and was completely healthy. It might not be the easiest preganancy but it is a possibility.

On a side note I ahve been trying for a year to get pregnant again and have concived but due to s blood clot in the placenta it ended in a miscarriage. Now I'm on heprin shots and trying to concieve again.

I also have heterozygous Factor V Leiden. I had a PE when I was 23 so I knew that I had Factor V. I had an incredible Dr. that specialized in high risk pregnancies like mine. He really knew his stuff and I felt like I was in good hands. If you are thinking about having children, find a specialist. The first Dr. I had wasn't, and he had me on the wrong dose of Heparin. There are definitely some things you want to know about when giving yourself the Heparin shots. I found some really helpful tips on this website.

I ended up having a really great pregnancy:) I didn't have any complications at all. I loved being pregnant <3 />s a beautiful little boy.
